Our Winter Walk

This week our class visited Alley Pond Environmental Center in Bayside, Queens.

We took a brisk walk around a frozen lake and observed signs of animals in winter. We learned about what animals eat around the pond in the Winter.

We observed the frozen lake and learned about how animals such as frogs and turtles hide under the mud under the lake to keep warm!

Up in the trees we spotted squirrels' nests! Many animals keep warm in nests in the Winter time.

Back inside at the nature center, we met some of the animals that live around the pond. This is a box turtle with red eyes.

We got to meet and pet a friendly rabbit, too!
